Sit at the table of the Lord

Psalms 23:5 - "You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows."

God spoke to me today that this table is not financial provision, physical care, physical protection or spiritual protection.

It is the table of spiritual food. It is the table of fellowship. God asks us to daily sit at this table with Him. In the most difficult times in our life, we are able to sit at this table with Christ. God daily sets a feast before us, and calls us to His table.

God does not exempt us from trouble, but in the trouble we can be strengthened.
At the table Christ has set for us, he anoints our heads. Oil speaks of provision, blessing, and empowerment of the Holy Spirit. This overflow is a direct result of sitting at the table with God.
The previous things mentioned in the proceeding verses come from sitting at this table. He will provide the essentials for life. He will quiet or calm or calm me. He refreshes my soul. He guides me. He will cast away every fear.

Reflection on 1 Samuel

I Samuel chapter 1 - Hannah is barren and prays to God fervently.

1) Hannah promises God that she will give the child to the Lord.

2) Hannah takes Eli's takes his blessing, and believes for a child.

3) God did not immediately respond to her request, but over the course of time He does.

4) She keeps her vow and gives Samuel back to God, to serve Eli the priest.

I Samuel chapter 2 - Hannah's Prayer & Eli's wicked sons.

Hannah declares the attributes of God.

1) There is no one holy like the Lord.

2) There is no one besides you.

3) There is no Rock like our God.

4) He knows are deeds and weighs them.

5) He helps the humble, weak, and needy.

6) Life and death are in His hands.

7) Wealth and poverty are in His hands.

8) He will guard the feet of the saints.

9) He is judge over all the earth.
